We're here to help
Solid wood, engineered hardwood, and tricky repairs
Solid hardwood can typically be sanded and refinished several times across its lifespan, which makes it one of the best long-term investments in a home. Engineered hardwood can often be refinished too, depending on the thickness of its wear layer, and our team will always check before recommending a path forward.
If your floors only have minor surface wear, a screen and recoat may be all you need to restore the shine. For boards that are damaged beyond repair, we offerflooring repairs and board replacement as part of the process.

Frequently asked questions about hardwood sand and refinishing
How long does hardwood refinishing take?
Most single-room projects take 3 to 5 days from sanding through the final coat, and whole-home projects typically run 5 to 7 days. Drying and cure time between coats is the main factor, not the sanding itself.
Do I need to move out during the project?
You can usually stay in the home, but the refinished rooms will need to stay empty of foot traffic for at least 24 hours after the final coat, and furniture should wait 48 to 72 hours. We will walk you through the schedule in advance so you can plan around it.
How messy is the sanding process?
Much less than it used to be. We use modern dust-containment sanding equipment that captures the majority of particles at the source, so cleanup is minimal and your air quality stays protected.
Can engineered hardwood be sanded and refinished?
Often yes, but it depends on the thickness of the wear layer above the plywood core. We inspect this during your free estimate and recommend refinishing, a light screen and recoat, or replacement based on what the wood can handle.
